The Mount Saint Mary College men’s and women’s cross country teams had an impressive outing at the Skyline Conference Championships held at Van Cortlandt Park, in the Bronx, on Sunday, Oct. 27. The women matched their best finish by taking second place; the men set a new program record with a third-place finish in the conference run.

On the women’s side, senior Rachel Sleeter earned First-Team All-Skyline recognition with a fourth-place finish (20:32.10) in the 5K race. Senior Nicole Zazzero and freshman Brigitte Leyva landed on the All-Skyline Second Team with 11th- and 14th-place finishes, respectively. Zazzero finished with a time of 21:22.29, while Leyva finished the race in 21:28.85. For her accomplishments, Leyva was also named Skyline Conference Women’s Cross Country Rookie of the Year.

Freshman Adam Al-Haraizeh led the male Knights with an 8K time of 29:23.58 to take sixth place. His finish earns him First-Team All-Skyline honors, the first male cross-country runner to accomplish this feat in program history.

St. Joseph’s College (L.I.) amassed 24 points to take the women’s title, while Mount Saint Mary College finished runner-up with 65 points.  St. Joseph’s took home the men’s title as well with 46 points. Yeshiva finished second overall with 66 points, followed by the Mount (88).
