MELVILLE, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams set numerous records in an impressive showing at the Molloy College Lions Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 15, at Saint Anthony’s High School, which featured many top regional Division III schools, as well as multiple Division II programs.
Women’s distance medley relay team of senior Jenny Angileri (Bay Shore, N.Y.), senior Nicole Zazzero (Brewster, N.Y.), freshman Brigitte Leyva (Hyde Park, N.Y.) and sophomore Jennifer Boyle (Monroe, N.Y.), shattered the program record in the event with a time of 13:43.62, which is 30 seconds better than the previous mark. The effort gave the Knights an upset victory in the event. Freshman Kristen Maddock (Medford, N.Y.) also improved upon her own program record with a 2.59 meter pole vault. Junior Cathy Terranova (Whitestone, N.Y.) set a new personal best in the shot put with a throw of 9.38 meters.
The men’s 4×800 relay team of senior Scott Colello (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.), freshman Adam Al-Haraizeh (Pine Bush, N.Y.), senior Stat Willand (Sparta, N.J.) and senior Ian Brink (Wallkill, N.Y.) set a new program mark in the event with a time of 8:48.88. Freshman Mateusz Prusaczyk (Copiague, N.Y.) beat his previous high jump record with a leap of 1.83 meters on Saturday. Senior Daryl Collymore (Middletown, N.Y.) improved his indoor 60-meter dash record once again, beating the previous time by .01 second at 7.52.
The Knights have a few weeks off to prepare for the 2014 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships, which will take place from March 7-8 at the Reggis Lewis Track and Field Center in Boston, Mass.
