On Saturday, October 27th, the Mount Saint Mary College women’s tennis team took home their fourth consecutive Skyline Conference Championship. At the game, the Knights shut out Farmingdale State College with a 5-0 win.

Junior Jillian Torre and freshman Breanna Scott immediately put the first point on the board with a 8-1 victory in third doubles. The team’s second doubles followed shortly after with another 8-1 win by junior Jaimee Lubniewski and freshman Ashlynne O’Brien. Senior Gabriela Murphy-Goldberg and freshman Morgan Holbrook teamed up to provide the third point with an 8-3 triumph in first doubles.

After sweeping in doubles, the girls headed into singles and came away with similar results. The Mount’s Holbrook was the first off the court following a 6-1, 6-2 win at number two. Scott was the next to finish at fifth singles. Her 6-2, 6-3 win provided the team with their last point and another conference title.

After the match, a Skyline Conference representative presented Farmingdale and the Knights with their plaques. Holbrook was also named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

The team ended their season with an undefeated record of 12-0, a goal they set for themselves at the start of the year. What is next on the team’s list of goals? The girls hope to make it past the first round of the National Collegiate Athletic Associate’s (NCAA) in May.
