Senior forward Sean Lockwood (Manahawkin, N.J.) of the Mount Saint Mary College men’s soccer team was named Skyline Conference Men’s Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Tuesday, Feb. 11, by the Skyline Conference office.
Lockwood earned this distinction after having a decorated season both on the field and in the classroom. He tied for third in the Skyline with 10 assists and ranked fourth with 0.56 assists per game. He added six goals on the season for a total of 22 points. Lockwood earned a Skyline Men’s Soccer Player of the Week honor for the week ending Sept. 29, 2013. He was also named to the All-Skyline First Team and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Metro Region Men’s Soccer All-Star First Team. Lockwood’s strong season helped lead the Knights to their first Skyline Conference title and first trip to the NCAA Tournament.
A Scholar-Athlete of the Year award in each fall sport is presented to the First-Team All-Conference performer who carries the highest grade point average (minimum 3.30) for the fall semester in the sports of soccer, cross country, women’s tennis, men’s golf and women’s tennis.
