Women’s Tennis

Sarah Lawrence- 6  Mount Saint Mary College- 3

 

The Knights had the lead in doubles play after seniors Breanna Scott (Highland Falls, N.Y.) and Katie Conroy (Middletown, N.Y.) picked up an 8-5 win in the No. 1 doubles. Scott also picked up a victory in No. 1 singles. Freshman Mikayla Zaccaria (Point Lookout, N.Y.)  notched herself a No. 6 singles win as well.

 

Despite some great performances, Women’s Tennis dropped the two-day long skyline opener to Sarah Lawrence, 6-3. The game was suspended mid-play on Saturday due to inclement weather, and was subsequently resumed on Sunday.

 

Men’s Soccer:

MSMC 2, Nazareth 0

 

Senior goalkeeper Austin Peluso (Farmington, Conn.) picked up his first shutout of the season and improved to 1-3-1 overall this year. Sophomore forward Eric Hayes (Westhampton Beach, N.Y.) and Junior Elmer Moran each scored a second half goal. Moran’s was the first goal of his career.

 

Cross Country (at Steven A. Warde Invitational, hosted by SUNY Cobleskill)

Men’s Team: 5th of 8

Women’s Team: 6th of 8

 

Junior captain Christopher DelVecchio (North Haven, Conn.) finished with a sixth-place time of 30:37.6 in the five-mile event. Freshman Isaiah Bevans-Didymus (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) placed 18th overall with a run of 33:04.1.

 

On the women’s side, freshman Angela Barton (Bristol, Conn.) took eighth place with a 5K time of 20:44.6. Senior Christine Brown (Watervliet, N.Y.) was close behind in 11th with a time of 21:19.5.

 

Women’s Soccer

Mount Saint Mary College 2   Rutgers-Camden  1

 

Sophomore midfielder Jessica Lanning tied the game at 1 apiece with her goal in the 63rd minute of play. Freshman midfielder Hannah Pasqual (Freeport, NY) scored the game-winning goal in the 71st minute. Sophomore goalkeeper Mary Riley (Newburgh, N.Y.) improved to 3-2 overall on the season by making three crucial saves.

 

 

Women’s Volleyball:

New Paltz 3, MSMC 0

NYU 3, MSMC 1

 

Despite dropping a pair of matches to New Paltz and NYU, Senior libero Jennifer Gries (Hicksville, N.Y.) had an impressive weekend, and was rewarded for her efforts by being named to the Hawks Invitational All-Tournament Team.
