The Mount Saint Mary College men’s soccer team took home yet another big win on Saturday, September 21st against NYU Polytechnic Institute’s Fighting Blue Jays. This win improves their record to 5-2 overall, and leaves them 1-0 in the Skyline Conference.

Senior mid-fielder, Sean Lockwood, scored early with the first goal of the game in the 5th minute. From there, Matt Garcia, a junior, took the reins by aggressively heading the ball off of an NYU-Poly defender and into the net for the second goal of the game.

This goal was the first for Garcia, who then went on to score 3 total goals and grab the attention of the crowd. Garcia’s last goal came off of an assist from junior defender, Steve Ehresman. Senior goalkeeper Matt Darling also had an impressive game with 7 total saves.

The Knights are feeling confident in the wake of their first big conference win. When asked how their team looks this year, the Knights had only good things to say about their fellow players. Sophomore, Jarrett Armstrong, stated that the Knights are “most definitely” looking at a winning season, and hoping to do well in the Skyline Conference.

The Knights’ next home game will be played on Saturday, October 5 at 1pm against Maritime College. The Knights hope to gain another big win on their own turf.
