MILTON, N.Y. – In their first meet of the 2014 campaign, the Mount Saint Mary College (MSMC) men’s and women’s cross country teams showed well in a dual meet with SUNY Delhi at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome’s 5K course on Saturday, Aug. 30.

For the men, sophomore captain Chris DelVecchio had best finish with a 5K time of 17:56.79, good for second overall in Saturday’s meet. Sophomore Adam Al-Haraizeh took third overall at 18:19.29. Delhi’s Rob Burnett took the top spot overall with a time of 17:48.76.

On the women’s side, the Knights took the top eight spots in the meet. Reigning Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year Brigitte Leyva finished first overall at 22:45.01, while freshman Brianna Stamm was not far behind, finishing at 22:48.34 to take second in her first collegiate meet. Junior Jennifer Boyle placed third with a time of 23:11.71, and junior Amber Stevens rounded out a close top-four, crossing at 23:20.93.

After getting their feet wet on Saturday, the MSMC Knights will participate in a meet hosted by Purchase College on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 10 a.m.
