With summer drawing to a close, it’s time to bring out the sweaters, order a pumpkin spice latte (or two) and watch TV on Thursday, Sunday and Monday because football season is back!
There are 32 teams across the U.S. ready to strap on their helmets, lace up their cleats and wear their pads to play the sport they love for thousands of adoring fans in the stadium and across the country. The fantasy football fans are also ready to pick their best players, hopefully looking to actually win this season.
When it comes to winning, being an Atlanta Falcons fan was definitely not a fun time this past February, with friends who are New England Patriots fans constantly reminding and drawing attention to a past game. But now it’s the 2017 season and every football fan is ready for a great season.
However, the country was not ready for the amount of devastation and destruction that came about from Hurricanes Irma, Harvey, Jose and now Maria.
But through his determined efforts and his love for the city of Houston, Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt has lead the charge in raising funds and support for the city. Through his efforts on social media and his large amount of support, with many notable donors ranging from other professional athletes to celebrities, an estimated $37 million has been raised for his fund.
Donations and support are still pouring in for Hurricane Harvey victims and victims of the other hurricanes in the Southeast and Caribbean. So with the beginning of a long 17-week season, we keep in mind those who have been affected. With every game we watch we’ll have fun, we’ll cheer our team on and we’ll cheer for the victims to hold on and make it through the day.
