With the Halloween season coming to a close and both Thanksgiving and Christmas quickly approaching, it can be easy to feel like you are missing out on all of the spirit when you are locked up in your dorm room studying for exams. Adding just a few simple and cheap decorations to your room can be an easy way to gain back your holiday cheer.
Starting off by decorating the door can be a great way to add some flare. There are plenty of things that you can buy or even make if you are on a college budget that will change the entire look of it. Things such as wreaths and door mats are always great options. You can even grab some colorful leaves from outside and tape them to your door to add some color to that boring wood. When the weather begins to get cooler, paper snowflakes are another cheap and simple option to make the outside of your dorm room look and feel like a winter wonderland.
Now for the fun part, the inside of your dorm room. Adding cheap holiday themed throw blankets and pillows is one of my favorite ways to make the room feel festive and cozy. Window decor is an easy way to add some character to the room as well. Stickers are available to purchase in stores and online. If you are looking to save money, print out a holiday themed coloring page, color it with some friends and tape it to your window in order to get the same effect.
Another option to add to that holiday feel is to purchase holiday scented room sprays. Often times candles are not allowed in dorm rooms but that shouldn’t get you feeling down. Now a days, there are so many room sprays and plug ins to choose from. Having that pumpkin spice or gingerbread cookie room spray can transform the entire atmosphere.
No matter what holiday you celebrate, it is always a good idea for you to make your temporary space away from home feel cozy and festive. What are you waiting for? Throw on some tunes and get to decorating!
