The Presidential Search Committee continues to look for a qualified President for Mount Saint Mary College who demonstrates strong leadership and, with the help of the campus community, shows commitment to building on the strengths and traditions of the college.

As we approach the end of the semester, the Presidential Search Committee co-chairs Sr. Margaret Anderson, O.P. and Anna Halpine have been working with the Board of Trustees and other members of the college to discuss the presidential position and recommendations made by the community.

To assist with the search Mount Saint Mary is working with Academic Search Inc., a firm dedicated to aiding in the search of leaders for higher education institutions. Senior Consultant Nancy Suttenfield, responsible for leading the search, and Maya Kirkhope have created a job ad. The position profile details the college’s needs and priorities and the desired characteristics of the next president.

Some of the expectations of the next MSMC President include: having a well-informed strategic plan that will be successfully implemented to achieve or exceed its goals; aides in the improvement of student retention and creates relationships to expand financial and donor aid for the growth and success of the school; shows intellectual leadership which will contribute to the growth and innovation of current and new academic programs; is committed to creating relationships with faculty and students as well as taking interest in their growth and success.

The search committee is accepting applications and nominations until Nov. 30. Nominations need to be completed through the online form on the website. Those who are interested in applying must include a cover letter and a current resume showing administrative accomplishments, as well as a list of five references with contact information.

Beginning in December, the committee will review the applications submitted in order to narrow down the candidates. They expect to conduct interviews in January and plant to invite finalists to the campus in late January and early February.

The next president is anticipated to take office in the Summer of 2018. For more information, visit
