The clock is ticking. With every passing day, graduation is growing nearer, which means that seniors at MSMC are scampering to get their affairs in order. The Career Center is working at top notch speed, ready to help students in whatever way possible, whether it be through applying for internships, building up resumes or conducting events that bring the academic world and the professional world together.
Thus comes Real World Connections – the perfect opportunity for students to get their name onto employers’ radars and make connections among various companies. Most recently, there was a Real World Connections in Sports, Entertainment & Communications on Feb. 27 at the Kaplan Family Library in the Dominican Center Cafe.
Employers from numerous reputable companies within the communications field, including representatives from HBO, Times Herald Record, New York Public Radio, Coyne PR, Success Communications Group, Hudson Valley Magazine, Interact Marketing, NY Yankees, Leftfield Productions and NY Times Magazine were present at the Real World Connections event.
Even though the representatives came from a variety of backgrounds and studies, they nonetheless shared with students the commonality of working hard and striving to enhance their craft. They answered their questions with much patience and charisma, understanding that the road to success is a long one, but fruitful if given the proper commitment.
At the end of the night, there was an exchanging of business cards as well as handshakes. Students thanked employers for their newly acquired knowledge, and employers thanked students for introducing them to potential candidates.
