Mount Saint Mary College students anticipate fall weather after the first few weeks of school get under way. Most people look forward to fall for “hoodie” weather, boots, the leaves changing, and pumpkin spice lattes. Fall’s mark at MSMC is categorized by something just a little different though, and that’s Spirit Week.
Spirit Week at the Mount is something students look forward to every year. It brings a sense of community to our campus, and causes a lot of excitement amount students, faculty, and staff.
What is Spirit Week? If you’re not familiar, Spirit Week is a week of activities that bring students together to show spirit for our school. Each day of the week represents something that will help you win points for your class, which all lead up to Spirit Week’s biggest events – Mount Olympics and Bonfire.
Ask anyone on campus what their favorite event at MSMC is, and more than half will tell you Mount Olympics. Mount Olympics is a battle of the classes that takes place towards the end of spirit week. Each class has a color and chooses a theme for the event. Classes must complete a skit and various challenges for points. Whoever has the most points at the end of Mount Olympics wins a trophy and bragging rights! In the past, the class of 2015 pulled a three-peat, winning their sophomore, junior, and senior years at Mount Olympics.
Bonfire concludes Spirit Week and is an event everyone comes out too. Taking place in the Guzman parking lot, Student Activities and Senate work hard to create an amazing event. Obviously, the best part about the bonfire is the bonfire! Don’t miss out on all the other great things there though, as well. Performances by the dance and cheer team take place, and there is enough food to fulfill all your fall needs.
Below is a full list of all the activities during Spirit Week! Don’t miss out on one of the best weeks of the year here at Mount Saint Mary College.
