Sandra Cefaloni-Henderson, Dean of Campus Life, announced she would be leaving her position at Mount Saint Mary College last week.

Cefaloni-Henderson has been a part of the Mount family for 14 years, first as a student, and then as a member of staff and administration.

“I was blessed with the opportunity to work closer to home and continue my career within the educational setting,” she said. “It was a very difficult decision [to leave], but I wanted to pursue a new professional endeavor.”

In her email, Cefaloni Henderson wrote that she has “cherished” her time at the Mount. Of all the positions she has held on campus, she believes that her past role as director of Student Activities was the most rewarding, saying; “I was able to work with the students while watching them grow and develop themselves into young dynamic people.”

It has not yet been announced whether or not Cefaloni-Henderson’s position will be filled. However, Jennifer Garton, who stepped in as interim assistant director of Student Activities in February, will continue her role as interim assistant director of student activities.

“Sandra was someone who I always went to for advice and help. She helped me grow into the professional that I am today,” said Garton.

Dorianna Gross, senior and a member the student Senate, was both shocked and saddened to hear about Cefaloni-Henderson’s departure, saying that it was “sad to think about how the office and the daily dynamic will change,” but that she was happy and excited for Sandra starting her next chapter.

“Sandra has definitely helped to push me to do more than just settle,” Gross said, echoing Garton’s sentiments. “Listening to her and talking to her everyday has taught me more than I have probably learned in some of my classes.”

Cefaloni-Henderson shared some final words of wisdom with students, saying “always try your best, stay true to your values and pride yourself on your work ethic and loyalty.”
