With the spring season approaching, the Hudson Valley is the best place to be. If you have experienced a Hudson Valley Autumn, the next beautiful thing is experiencing a Hudson Valley Spring! People travel from all over to the beautiful Hudson Valley to see the scenic view it offers. In the Hudson Valley, spring season brings the opening of beautiful hiking and biking trails, local farms open for horseback riding and golf courses reopening for the season.   Here in Orange County there are multiple hiking and biking trails, horseback riding locations and golf courses where you can take advantage of the nice weather.  From simply driving on the highways or looking at the view across the river from campus it’s simply breathtaking. Some of the best spots to view the spring season blooming in the Hudson Valley may include a little bit of hiking.

There is Mount Beacon, which takes about an hour to hike and is about 10-15 minutes from campus. This hike will give you a work out and a beautiful view of the Hudson River and the surrounding areas. You can travel up to Poughkeepsie/Highland and walk over the Walkway over the Hudson. The Walkway over the Hudson is the longest elevated pedestrian bridge in the area. When you reach the center and look over the river you can see the beautiful valley and all of surroundings at about 212 feet above sea level.

In New Paltz at Mohonk Mountain House they have mountain biking, hiking, trail rides via horseback, carriage rides and mountain climbing.  Though a day pass at Mohonk is 25$ and some activities are additionally priced, the views are absolutely breath taking.

There are also multiple hiking trails at Bear Mountain State Park.  Local favorite hiking locations to view the beautiful foliage are Anthony’s Nose, which is towards Bear Mountain and Break Neck Mountain that is in Cold Spring.

For horseback riding there are multiple local establishments that provide daytime passes for horseback riding and other activities. As stated above one of these locations is Mohonk Mountain located in New Paltz NY. In Highland NY, Rocking Horse Ranch and Resort is located. If you are a golfer and away from your home course do not fret. Mount Saint Mary College recently developed a Golf Team that will form in the Fall of 2013. But wait, you do not want to wait until the fall to play, no problem. The following golf courses are open to the public: New Windsor Golf & Sports Dome in New Windsor NY, Weatherproof Golf in Newburgh, NY, Apple Greens Golf Course in Highland NY, Fishkill Miniature Golf & Driving Range in Fishkill, NY, New Paltz Golf Course in New Paltz, NY and Orange County Golf Course in Middletown, NY.
