Newburgh, NY– It’s that time of the year again: Spirit of the Mount Week!

As always, the most anticipated part of the week was Mount Olympics, a fierce competition amongst the classes to determine a victor amongst the four.

Each class chose a theme that corresponded with their color, and planned their opening skit around it. The seniors were “in Wonderland,” the juniors had “Disney,” the sophomores celebrated “Christmas”” and the freshman revived “Lilo and Stitch.”

This year the main event was the toughest it has ever been. Each class showed their variety of strengths, as victories were evenly spread. When the results came in everyone was biting their nails, the gym so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

Upon being declared the victors of Spirit Week and Mount Olympics, the seniors celebrated their win with a customary and iconic “court storm,” rallying together to raise their trophy and relish in the moment.

For the first time ever in Mount Olympics history, there was a three-way tie for second place, showing just how close of a competition it actually was.

Although it may be too early to tell, the returning classes and the incoming freshman class could produce an even closer battle for the Mount Olympics title come next year.
