While other Mount students are starting to get excited for Spirit of the Mount Week, a group of 18 student leaders have been busy planning all the exciting things that will occur that week. This group is your elected senate, and together they get the ball rolling in making all the traditions that every student has come to love possible.
“I love being on senate because we get to be on the front line and take ideas and suggestions from students and make them come alive!” Brenna Cooney reported. The college’s senate makes things like last year’s stilt walker and Spring Weekend’s 21 tent happen.
On September 21st, senate had their first meeting to plan the 20th annual bonfire. “We have big plans for this year’s bonfire, and we’re trying to organize things that have never been done before” Cooney said.
Senate truly is a group of students, for the students. “Every decision we make as a group is with the student body in mind. I put 120 percent into senate, and watching our hard work in action is the greatest feeling” Brad Moody expressed. With bonfire planning well underway, make sure you stop by the SGA office to tell any senate member what you would like to see on campus. This is your chance to leave a mark on your school and make the most out of your college experience!
