Many of us here at the Mount know about the popular food places that surround our campus: Alexis Diner, McDonalds, Papa Johns, Planet Wings, etc. If you’re sick of these usual places, then here are three new ones that you may have never heard of, but should definitely give a try!
1.) Fiddlestix Cafe
Location: 319 Main Street, Cornwall
Distance from Mount: 15 minutes
This cute little cafe is the perfect place for a Sunday bonding brunch with roommates. With reviews like “friendly service, creative menu, casual atmosphere,” and a variety of breakfast and lunch options, this is a go to place. Fiddlestix is open Monday-Friday 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Sunday and Saturday 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Location: 101 N Plank Rd, Newburgh
Distance from Mount: 7 minutes
This is a sushi and hibachi restaurant that’s practically down the road from the Mount. It’s the perfect place for a night out with friends, a birthday dinner, or maybe a place to go out with visiting family. Iron Chef is open on Sunday from 12 p.m. – 10 p.m., Monday – Thursday 11:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. – 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 11:30 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.
3.) Beacon Creamery
Location: 134 Main St, Beacon
Distance from Mount: 10 minutes
This aesthetic little ice cream shop is located right at the start of Main Street in Beacon. Both traditional and unique flavors are available for you to try. It’s the perfect place to go to on a nice fall day or spring day. Beacon Creamery is open everyday from 12 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Top Three is my column, where every other week I will offer a list of three different things or places that relate to college life both here at the Mount and in general. Each of my choices are based off of suggestions that have been made to me by fellow classmates. If anyone would ever like to make a suggestion for a future list they want to see just send me an email with your suggestion at email@example.com.
