It’s that time of year again, when the weather starts to finally warm up and the semester is about to end. With the spring and summer ahead it’s time to start revamping your wardrobe without breaking the bank.
A great way to spring up your wardrobe and put some cash in your pocket is selling the clothes you no longer wear. Black Bird Attic Boutique is a consignment shop located in Beacon. The store offers to give 40% of the selling price on any item of yours that they sell. The store looks for gently used or brand new items that were bought between that last 1-3 years. The store also is interested in buying vintage clothing from the 80s. Black Bird Attic will return the clothing that didn’t sell back to you after 90 days. The store has both women and men’s clothing and is open 12-5 p.m. on Thursday through Monday.
Being a college student has it perks when you get a student discount. Stores like TopShop, ASOS, and Charlotte Russe offer a 10% discount on your order when you show your student i.d. While stores such as Madewell, J.Crew, and Banana Republic offer a 15% off in stores with a student i.d. Stores like Forever 21 and H&M also off student discounts in stores on certain days of the week depending on their location.
Another way to stay stylish for less is to shop at the outlets. The Woodbury Commons has over 220 outlet stores. Located in Central Valley, N.Y., the Woodbury Commons has a wide variety of brands from Adidas to Ralph Lauren. Though outlets are already discounted you can go online to premiumoutlets.com to check out all the promotions and sales the stores are offering that week.
To get the most bang for your buck on designer clothing, sample sales are for you. Every couple of months, fashion houses empty out the clothes they no longer can use from their inventory and PR closets and host sample sales. Thestylishcity.com has a monthly calendar that documents when and where sample sales will be all throughout New York City. Most sample sales offer 60-80% off the retail price. Though some sample sales are by appointment, a lot of sample sales are open to the public.
Just because spring is here and your closet is looking dull, this does not mean you have to spend a lot of money to shop the latest trends. By being a savvy shopper you’ll be able to wear the latest styles for less.
