Men’s Soccer

9/14

Freshman midfielder Michael Blaauboer (Latham, N.Y.) named Skyline Conference Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week. Blaauboer earned a point in each of the Knight’s three games during the week, landing his first career goal in a double overtime draw against Bard College.

 

9/16    Rutgers-Newark 4 MSMC 1

Senior defender Ivan Dorador (Valley Stream, N.Y.) netted a penalty kick for the Knight’s only goal in a 4-1 loss to Rutgers Newark.

 

9/19   St. Joseph’s College-Brooklyn 1 MSMC 6

Freshman midfielder Michael Blaauboer (Latham, N.Y.) opened the second half with a goal. Sophomore forward Eric Hayes (Westhampton, N.Y.) also scored a goal.

Senior forward Adam Palumbo (East Islip, N.Y.) and Michael Ennis (Carmel, N.Y.) scored two goals each. Freshman midfielder Fred Stark (Hollis, N.Y.) finished the game with three assists.

Junior goalie Tyler Biscone (Garden City, N.Y.) picked up his first win in just his second start of the season.

 

9/23   MSMC 1 Vassar College 2

Senior forward Michael Ennis (Carmel, N.Y.) scored the only goal for the Knights in their road loss to Vassar College. Senior goalkeeper Austin Peluso (Farmington, Conn.) made five saves in the game.

 

9/26  MSMC 2 Farmingdale College 5

Michael Blaauboer (Latham, N.Y.) and Joseph Dolan (New Paltz, N.Y.) each scored second half goals for the Knights in the loss. Junior goalkeeper Tyler Biscone (Garden City, N.Y.) made six saves.

 

 

Women’s Tennis

9/19  Farmingdale College 9 Mount Saint Mary College 0

 Senior Breanna Scott (Highland Falls, N.Y.) played the closest match of the day with a score of 6-7, 1-6 against Farmingdale’s Priscilla Signore in No. 1 singles. Senior teammate Ellen Hendricks (West Point, N.Y.) also got on the board with a score of 1-6, 3-6 in the No. 3 spot.

 

 

Men’s Tennis

 9/17  Mount Saint Mary College 2 Bard College 7

In its lone fall match, the knight’s men’s tennis team fell to Bard College by a score of 7-2.

The No. 1 tandem of seniors Dan Witke (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Nate Dimmie (Middletown, N.Y.) fell to Bard’s Ted Laport and Keillor Mose, 8-5. Dimmie picked up a win in No. 3 singles, defeating Philip Poznansky, 6-4, 6-2.

 

 

Women’s Soccer

9/19   St. Joseph’s-Long Island 0 Mount Saint Mary College 1

In the 13th minute, sophomore midfielder Nicole Cavallo (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) scored the only goal of the game. Sophomore goalkeeper Mary Riley (Newburgh, N.Y.) made two clutch saves in the shutout victory.

Cavallo was named Skyline Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 20, 2015.

 

 

Men’s Golf

 9/18
The Mount Saint Mary men’s golf team took third place overall at the Farmingdale State College Skyline Golf Qualifier at Bethpage Red.

Junior Owen Heath (Jamestown, R.I.) lead the Knights with a score of 75(+5) to earn fourth out of 35 participants. Junior Alex Harcher (Walkill, N.Y.) finished with a score of 79(+9), which landed him in a tie for eighth. Harcher was followed closely by sophomore teammate Dylan Legg (Hanies Falls, N.Y.) who shot an 80 (+10).

 

Men’s Cross Country

The Knights took Sixth place at Bard College, with three runners finishing in the top 50.

Junior Christopher DelVecchio (North Haven, Conn.) placed 15th out of 136 runners with a time of 28:17 in an 8k race.  Sophomore Mouctar Kaba (Bronx, N.Y.) finished shortly after at 29:29 putting him in 28th place.  Freshman Isaiah Bevans-Didymus (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) took 48th place at 31:02.

 

Women’s Cross Country

9/19

The Women’s Cross Country team turned in a seventh place team finish, totaling 177 points, at the Williams College Purple Valley Classic in Williamstown, Massachusetts.

Angela Barton (Bristol, Conn.) who has been the Knight’s lead runner in each of the team’s four races in 2015,  posted a time of 21:57.7 on the 5K course, finishing 22nd overall. Senior Christine Brown (Watervliet, N.Y.) was the Mount’s second finisher, placing 33rd overall with a time of 23:01.7.

 

Women’s Volleyball

9/16   MSMC 0 Ramapo 3

Junior outside hitter Rachel Sabatini (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.), freshman middle blocker Jennifer Hanley (Sayville, N.Y.) and freshman outside hitter Nicole Spinelli (Wantagh, N.Y.) matched with a team-leading five kills in the 3-0 loss to Ramapo College. Freshman setter Kimberly Gries (Hicksville, N.Y.) dished out 19 assists, while senior libero Jennifer Gries (Hicksville, N.Y.) grabbed a match-best 20 digs.

 

9/19   Brockport 3 MSMC 2

The Knights lost 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-14), in a non-conference match at the RIT Invitational against The College of Brockport.

Senior libero Jen Gries (Hicksville, N.Y.) racked up 12 digs.  Sophomore middle blocker Jen Bones (Camden, Del.) had two blocks along with junior outside hitter Rachel Sabatini (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) and sophomore right side Megan Williams (Glenmont, N.Y.) who both had one block a piece.

 

 

9/23   MSMC 3 Lehman College 2

The Knights captured their first win of the year against Lehman College. Junior outside hitter Rachel Sabatini (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) and freshman middle blocker Jennifer Hanley (Sayville, N.Y.) each had a team high 10 kills in the match. Sabatini also led the team with four aces. Freshman setter Kimberly Gries (Hicksville, N.Y.) dished out a match high 30 assist. Senior libero Jennifer Gries(Hicksville, N.Y.) had a match high of 31 digs in the match.
