The 2011 ECAC Softball Champions are back for another great season!

The Knights started off their season on March 21st with a win in a double header against Hunter College. The Knights swept Hunter with a 4-0 lead in the first game and a 5-4 lead in the second. “Our main focus right now is to get some wins under our belt,” said captain Caitlin Maynes, a junior at Mount Saint Mary College. “We had a tough start at the beginning of the season, but we really are pulling together,” she continued.

Caitlin Maynes, also the team’s pitcher, currently holds a record here at Mount Saint Mary College for most wins. On March 23rd, Maynes got her 31st win in a game against St. Joseph’s College. “It felt great to get my first win,” said Maynes. “It was like all my hard work the past two years finally paid off. I just hope to get a few more this season.”

The team’s current record is 9 wins and 13 losses, but they have full confidence in themselves that they will be able to pull it together before the playoffs. “Winning the next few games we have is important. The main goal is always to make it to playoffs and then take it from there,” said Maynes.

The Knight’s next home game is scheduled for Sunday, April 15 at Newburgh Free Academy (NFA) North against Purchase College. Come out and support your Knights as they work their way to another ECAC Championship!
