The Mount Saint Mary’s men’s basketball team beat Maritime College Saturday afternoon thanks to a very strong offensive showing by the Knights. They snapped a two-game losing streak as Kendall Francis led the charge for MSMC, notching 24 points, 2 assists and 7 rebounds. This win puts the team closer to playoffs as their record improves to 13-9 and 10-7 in conference.

“We’re really excited about how we’ve been playing lately but we have to stay focused and take it one game at a time if we want to make a deep run in the playoffs,” said Kendall Francis after his big game.

The Knights are coming off of a cold streak but they look to be heating back up with this blowout win. They currently sit in fifth place in the conference but have the chance to move up to third with a win in their next game as there’s a three-way tie for third right now.

One fan at Saturday’s game, Sal Rizzo, said, “It’s really cool to see a lot of Mount Saint Mary’s teams have success and I’m looking forward to seeing the basketball team do well in the playoffs this year.”

The Knights will turn their focus to their next game against St. Joseph’s-L.I. in hopes to move up to a higher seed. They’ll be headed out to Long Island to face the Golden Eagles on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 5:30 p.m.
