SAYVILLE, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College men’s golf team earned its best finish of the season on Thursday, taking second place out of six teams at the St. Joseph’s Invitational hosted by St. Joseph’s College (L.I.) at the Island Hills Country Club in Sayville, N.Y.  The Knights finished with a total score of 342 (+62) to take the runner-up position.

Freshman Owen Heath led the Knights with a fourth-place finish after shooting an 82 (+12). Sophomore Mike Balokoz and junior Steven Etherton followed Heath by tying for fifth place with round scores of 84 (+14).

Golfers from Centenary Centenary finished in first and third, and cemented a first-place finish for their team.

The Knights’ improved play comes at the right time, as the Skyline Conference Championships are just 10 days away. The two-day tournament will be held at Bethpage Red on Sunday, Oct. 20, and Monday, Oct. 21.
