Accounting Students at the Mount to receive Scholarships

NEWBURGH—Becker Professional Education, a part of the DeVry Education Group, is offering $450,000 in scholarships through their Newton D. Becker scholarship to select Accounting Majors at Mount Saint Mary College.

The scholarship was created in honor of the founder of Becker Professional Education, Newton D. Becker, who passed away in 1957. Over the past five years, this scholarship has awarded over $1.2 million in financial aid to future CPA’s.

To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must exhibit both financial need and completion of the requirements to take the CPA Exam.

Additionally, students must explain through a personal statement of their possessing the attributes Mr. Becker held most important. According to a Press Release administered by Becker Professional Education, these traits are “high moral character, strong leadership qualities and commitment to community service.”

“The scholarship program focuses on Newton D. Becker’s vision of providing students with the opportunities they deserve to help fulfill their dreams of earning the CPA credential,” said Becker Professional Education president Josh Roselli. “His leadership, passion and dedication to student success is what has helped thousands of our students and scholars pass the CPA Exam.”

Application deadlines for this scholarship are Feb 1. Those who are awarded the scholarship will be notified after Feb. 28.
