New York City held its annual fashion week Sept. 5-11, debuting spring and summer collections of 2015 from a range of American designers.

Here are the top five trends from New York Fashion Week:

1) Having Fun in Floral

One of the major trends from Fashion Week was floral print, and lots of it. The print was quite popular on the runway with designers. The bright yellow floral ankle-length skirt from Michael Kors was a huge success, as well as Ralph Lauren’s extravagant floral ball gown, worn with heavily encrusted colorful crystals. Nicole Miller’s beach themed show also had a lot of fun floral prints. However, the floral print that had the fashion flock buzzing was Prabal Gurung’s ruffle floral skirts and dresses which showcased the Rhododendron, the national flower of Nepal, Gurung’s native country.

2) Exotic Shoes

The shoes on the runway were a huge hit, this season. Designers like Alexander Wang, Jeremy Scott, and Calvin Klein all had extravagant shoes. Wang’s shoes were sport-wear inspired with mesh tops and athletic prints. Designer Jeremey Scott showed off a funky 90s styled boot, while Calvin Klein gave us leather platform heels.

3) Famous and Fresh Faces

This fashion week, it was more about who was wearing the clothes than the clothes themselves. Designers like Tommy Hilfiger and Marc Jacobs had a star-studded cast of models to walk the runways. In Hilfiger’s show, famous models rocked the runway, models like Kendall Jenner and Georgia Jagger. Jenner, along with Hayley Baldwin, sported absolute bare faces and shaggy wigs.

4) Over-sized Shirts and Skirts

The over-sized trend is still on the rise this fashion week with designers such as Suno and J Mendel showing off their over-sized shirts. While Marc Jacobs graced the runway with over-sized military inspired skirts, one of the best over-sized looks was from Supima Design’s competition winner, Anastasia Iafrate, whose casual and chic over-sized dresses dazzled the runway.

5) Fabulous Front Row

Brands like Calvin Klein, Alexander Wang, and Altuzarra had a star-studded front row. Celebs like Anna Wintour, the editor of Vogue, and Sarah Jessica Parker made appearances for Klein. Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj and former model Lauren Hutton sat next to each other in the Wang section. Altuzarra rounded it off with Rihanna and HBO actress Michelle Monaghan.

With all of the buzz surrounding these new designs and styles, it will be interesting to see which ones we spot in the streets this upcoming season.
