With summer slipping away and the cold air coming through, one thing is certain: fall is here. It’s time to change your bright pinks, corals, and neons to smokey-browns, plums, and taupes. Transitioning your daily beauty routine with the transitioning seasons is about to get much easier with these tips and trends for fall makeup:

Dark Lips

Dark lips are a huge trend for the fall, but can often be intimidating to try to pull off successfully. Remember that dark lipsticks come in a variety of colors and shades. You can try a dark classic nude, a deep plum, or purple. If those are too dark for your taste, try a deep red or burgundy.

Exfoliate your lips before applying a dark lip color to prevent the color from setting into fine lines in your lips or clinging to dry skin.

Remember to make your dark lips the focal point of your makeup’s look, especially if you have been previously skeptical to drawing attention to them. A classic black-winged liner and dark lips make for a perfect fall face.

Plums and Rosy-Toned Cheeks

Nothing screams fall better than plum or rose cheeks. Using a plum or rose-colored blush, rather than the bright pinks you see in the summer, will give your cheeks a more pronounced look and is the perfect way to transition your daily beauty routines.

Contour and Highlight

A trend that is always popular in the fall and has been featured at New York Fashion Week is a defined contour and highlight on the face. Contouring your face consists of placing bronzer in hallows of your cheeks and places on your face where the sun doesn’t necessarily shine. Highlighting is the opposite, done by applying a highlighting powder or cream on the tops of your cheeks and bridge of your nose where your face isn’t exposed to light. This accentuates your features and gives you a more defined look.

Pick the Right Colors

Fall beauty trends often correlate with the colors that are seen during the autumn season. Shimmering golds and taupes look beautiful on the eyes in the fall, especially when paired with a matte brown or plum in the crease to create a natural brown smokey eye.

Adding a shimmery gold or green eye shadow on your lower lash line will really help brighten your eyes and add a special touch to your overall look.

Metallics are also a big trend this fall: using metallic silvers, golds, and browns are perfect for a smokey eye.

Smokey Eyeliner

By using a creamy eyeliner, gel or pencil, it’s easy to achieve a smokey look. Just apply your eyeliner how you normally would, then using a q-tip or brush to smudge the liner. You can apply an eye shadow on top for added depth or leave it the way it is. Smokey eyes are a staple during fall and smokey eyeliner is an easy way to achieve it.

Bold Brows

Eyebrows are more important than people think. They frame your face and can change your look completely. Filling in your brows and making a bold statement with them is always popular for the fall season.

These easy and simple trends are the perfect way to jump start your fall beauty routine. So whether you’re going out on a date or just going to class, feel free and confident to rock these trends wherever you are!
