This is not a boring story about all the deets in how to start a business. You don’t need to get a degree, or take some ridiculous class. But as college students, turning your hobbies into businesses can be much easier than you thought.

My sister, Jessica Cruz, attended Pace University and received her bachelor’s degree in communications. She loved it at the time and found some jobs post-graduation. Jessica, like many, hated some jobs and loved others. A very annoying factor was horrible bosses. Jessica was tired of having rude people always telling her what to do, so she decided to become her own boss! She took her knowledge of business, her passion for fashion, and her unique talent and created Electric Soul. Electric Soul is a one woman show and skyrocketing before the world’s eyes. Social media has helped the company’s growth a lot. She made an Instagram page (@shop_electric_soul) that has grown to have thousands of followers. Many aspiring models slid into her swimsuits and now send frequent shots to be posted on Shopelectricsoul.com.

I know it may sound like a piece of cake, but it is not. Networking and making connections really can make this small idea into a large reality. There is nothing wrong with making money off of your hobby!  Although learning to make bathing suits for women was not as easy as other hobbies, as Jessica found out, the hard work is totally worth it. So many students have hidden talents that can really benefit their pockets! So this summer stop hiding your talents and show the world what you’ve got! Didn’t have any plans for this summer? Well I hope this sparked your next project! Be your own boss, and when it’s time to soak up the sun, check out Shopelectricsoul.com first!
