Have A Netflix Christmas

By: Claudia Larsen

The holiday season is fast approaching! And with Thanksgiving just a short time away, the time for Christmas cheer—specifically in movies—is arriving in full force. Netflix has already started pumping out their original Christmas movies. If you’re looking for a way to boost your Christmas spirit, or just a good seasonal movie to casually watch, here are seven Netflix original Christmas to watch this season.

New Netflix Originals

“Let It Snow”

A Christmas rom-com, but about teenagers (which is a rare find indeed). A snowstorm hits a small town on Christmas Eve, and by Christmas morning a group of high school seniors friendships and relationships will all change. Based on the best-selling young adult novel of the same name by Maureen Johnson, John Green and Lauren Myracle.

“Holiday in the Wild”

Kate leaves to go on her second honeymoon, but her husband has left her two days prior. She heads on her vacation to Zambia alone, and ends up at an elephant sanctuary helping nurse a baby elephant and forming a bond with the pilot of her excursion. A unique story of love as Kate stays in Africa for Christmas and expands her horizons.

“The Knight Before Christmas”

Brooke just wants a knight in shining armor, hypothetically of course. Well, it’s hypothetical until she hits one with her car. Cole was transported through time by a witch, and now learns to live in modern times with Brooke’s help, though he can’t stay forever. Vanessa Hudgens stars in this self-aware but also adorable Christmas rom-com.

“A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby”

The long awaited third film in the Christmas Prince saga, following “A Christmas Prince” and “A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding.” Follow Amber and Richard as they navigate being king and queen while expecting a baby, with some conflict of course.

Previously on Netflix

“The Princess Switch”

The Prince and the Pauper, but make it female, and Christmastime. Vanessa Hudgens plays talented baker Stacy who travels to Belgravia for a prestigious baking competition, and runs into Duchess Margaret (also Hudgens)—a woman identical to her. The two switch lives for two days to see how the other half lives, and come to terms with who they want to be and who they love.

“Christmas Inheritance”

Ellen is set to inherit her father’s company, but before she can there’s a “quick” errand she has to make. She’s been tasked with delivering a letter to her father’s former partner in the small town of Snow Falls, where she ends up stranded due to a snowstorm. Taking some time off from her ambitions, Ellen comes to learn what Christmas gives to people. The classic story of an overworked woman learning that there are things more important than a job.

“The Holiday Calendar”

This one is a Christmas rom-com with an original plot—exciting! Abby is a photographer who receives an advent calendar from her grandfather. The twist is that the advent calendar predicts her future through gifts, and the calendar predicts romance. A cute and fun movie starring Kat Graham, who played fan favorite Bonnie on The Vampire Diaries.
